The Ritzy Shows - October 1995 to September 1996

This series of eleven or twelve shows was a deviation from the usual open access format. This was motivated by the idea of integrating short film within programmes presented in a commercial cinema venue and so sneaking underground films into a mainstream cinema environment - The Ritzy in Brixton. In fact they illustrate how cinema space limits the way films can be presented and seen. Two approaches were tried: the first, called 'A Free Sample', was a selection of four to six shorts shown between the regular midnight double feature spot programmed by the Ritzy in October and November of 1996.
